What is a job and what is a career in Estate Agency?
A “job” is just an occupation which most of the people look for in making a living. A “career” is how you use your “jobs” over a period of time and accumulate its efficiency and experiences to yield a synergy of expertise, resulting in skill of presenting your worth in the profession.
1. A job is something you do simply to earn money; a career is a series of connected employment opportunities.
2. A job has minimal impact on your future work life, while a career provides experience and learning to fuel your future.
3. When you work at a job, you should do the minimum without annoying the boss. When you’re in a career, you should go the extra mile, doing tasks beyond your minimum job description.
So, whether you take estate agency as a job or a career, it is entirely up to you.
In my opinion, when you take estate agency as a career, then you need to think seriously how this profession is to you than the rest of them out there. Estate agency practice might be a temporary “trial and error” for other people, but it cannot be for you who would make it a career. It is more serious than that.
This is a key issue because survival in the business of estate agency practice really is tough during this period of industry slow down. By doing nothing might be the right thing to do – as JackMa said in economic downturn, corporations need to consolidate – ‘do nothing’. However, doing nothing now does not mean doing nothing in the future. That makes a career different from a job. Indeed, a career thinks into the future.
